zynga:-game-company-under-attack-with-170-million-accounts-affected

The “Have I been Pwned” site records and publishes reports from websites or companies that have experienced computer attacks, particularly when user data is involved. Mobile gaming company Zynga was recently affected, where 170 millions of accounts were compromised. The Zynga platform has about 67 million active monthly users.

The attack occurred in September and focused on two platform games: Draw Something and Words with Friends. The company itself admitted that the login credentials of users in these games “may have been compromised in the attack”. However, the company pointed out that financial information was not affected.

However, the company declined to provide more information than the September statements. Have I been Pwned tried to contact Zynga at the time of the report but was unsuccessful. Truth be told, the company certainly does not intend to recall this dark moment in its history.

A hacker confessed to being the perpetrator of the attack

During the In September, in the midst of the post-attack buzz, a hacker named Gnosticplayers confessed to Hacker News that he was the author of the computer attack. Gnosticplayers claims to have stolen information from 218 millions of accounts, far higher than officially reported.

While it may be overkill on the part of the arrogant hacker, the truth is that the cyber criminal has had access to information from a good part of Zynga users, in this case with Words With Friends. The hacker claimed to have access to login credentials, which include passwords, emails, names, birthdates, phone numbers and Facebook profiles.
