Sometimes you need to make a screenshot of only one menu on the Mac without the other elements of the interface.
Of course, you can just take a screenshot of the whole screen and cut out the menu from it. Or you can use a special keyboard shortcut that will make the process easier and faster. Today we will consider both options.
macOS supports the following key combinations for screenshots:
  • Command ( ⌘ ) -Shift ( ⇧ ) -3 : screenshot of the whole screen
  • Command ( ⌘ ) -Shift ( ⇧ ) -4 : screenshot of the screen part

How to make a screenshot of the menu with the title

This can be done in two ways:
  • Take a screenshot of the entire screen and cut out the right part.
  • Take a screenshot of the screen with the menu.

1)  Click on the  menu of  any program to open it.
2)  Select the desired item, if necessary. 
3)  Hold  Command ⌘ ) - Shift ⇧ ) -3  on the keyboard.
The screenshot will be saved in PNG format on your desktop.
Double-click the file to open it in the Viewer.
You can also open the file in any editor by selecting Open with . To crop unwanted parts from the screenshot, drag the edges of the Preview program, and then press Command ⌘ ) - K .
To save changes, click Command S  or select Export from the File menu. The image can be saved in several formats (JPEG, PDF, PNG, TIFF or OpenEXR).
Now the screenshot consists of one menu and does not include other elements of the screen. In addition, by opening it in Preview, you can mark up the Markup by pressing Command Shift - A.
In addition, it is very convenient to make notes with the free program Lightshot.

1)  Click on the  menu  in any program.
2)  Hold down the keyboard  Command ⌘ ) - Shift ⇧ ) -4 .
3)  The cursor icon changes. Hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor to select only the menu.
4)  Release the mouse button to save the screenshot of the selected part of the screen. To cancel the action without saving the screenshot, press the Escape key ⎋ ).
Tip:  If you incorrectly selected the start point of the screenshot, without releasing the mouse button, hold down the Spacebar to move the selection area.

How to make a screenshot of the menu without title

1)  Click on the  menu  in the desired program.
2)  Select any menu item, if necessary. 
3)  Hold  Command ⌘ ) - Shift ⇧ ) -4  on the keyboard. The cursor icon changes.
4)  Now press  Spacebar . This will automatically highlight the entire menu behind the camera icon.
5)  Move the icon to the desired menu and click on the mouse button.
This method allows you to take a screenshot of any menu without its title.

You can easily make screenshots and additional menus. To do this, you just need to open it before you take a screenshot.
If you hold the Spacebar during the screenshot, the selected menu item turns gray instead of blue.
