How to return "Save As" in the menu on the Mac
Several years ago, Apple decided to hide the "Save As" option in the "File" menu of all Mac programs. This was done in order to simplify the use of the device for ordinary users. While this does not bother most people, advanced users still prefer the Save As command.
In this article, we describe three ways to use the Save As command. Consider two different keyboard shortcuts, and also find out how to return an option in the "File" menu.

Temporary solution

If you do not need to regularly use the "Save As" option, it's easiest to temporarily turn it on only when you need it.
In any program on the Mac, click the File menu , and then hold down the Option key on the keyboard.
You will see that the option "Duplicate" has changed to "Save As". Now just click on the option and select the desired format and save location.

Keyboard shortcut

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Option key not only displayed the "Save As" option, but also the quick keyboard shortcut responsible for the command.
In any document, simply hold down the Option Shift Command S keys to instantly activate the command, opening the window with the choice of format and save location.
This solution is more convenient than the first, but remembering keyboard shortcuts is not easy for everyone.

Constant solution

The final and permanent solution is to create a special keyboard shortcut. This will return the "Save As" option in the "File" menu, so that the combination itself does not have to be memorized.
1)  Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences ...> Keyboard.
2)  Click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab  .
3)  On the left menu, click  Program Key Shortcuts .
4)  Click the + icon  .
5)  Make sure that All Programs is selected in the secondary menu  .
6)  Enter "Save As ..." in the text string. Do not forget about the ellipsis, because this is important.
7)  In the combination section, hold down Shift + Option + Command + S at the same time. Or you can come up with another keyboard shortcut that you will be easier to remember. However, make sure that it does not coincide with any other standard combination. We recommend using the combination Shift + Option + Command + S.
8)  Click  Add .
Now the "Save As" option will be displayed again in the "File" menu of all programs.
