In order to address the "bombing" of automatic nuisance calls to users, First Orion, a provider of call protection and call enhancement solutions, today announced plans to showcase a solution at the MWC conference in Barcelona next week. This product, called "Engage," is described as a super-enhanced caller ID solution that helps companies "tag" their outgoing calls and display rich media graphics so customers can more easily distinguish legitimate calls. And fraudulent calls, and really understand the former.

First Orion estimates that companies make approximately 8 billion legitimate calls to US consumers each month. According to the company's data, half of this figure is concentrated in four industries, namely finance, telecommunications, retail and various professional services. Often, corporate calls from these categories are called to consumers, and in many cases, consumers won't answer the phone because it's obvious that they don't know who or who is making the call. First Orion's "Engage" solution allows companies to display a large amount of detail and graphics, so customers will soon discover that this is a legitimate call and what the purpose is. For example, a call from the Rideshare service might display a customized graphic and announcement on the phone screen telling the recipient that the call came from your driver and he is trying to contact you.
First Orion said that "Engage" is now on tens of millions of mobile phones, and the company hopes to increase this number to "hundreds of millions" of mobile users by 2020. The company said early adopters of the technology have seen their phone answering rates begin to double.
