How to sort notes on iPhone and iPad by name or date

The standard Notes application in iOS is a popular way to record and save various information, leave sketches, merge images into collections, safely store passwords and much more.
By default, notes are sorted by the modification date, but you can change the sorting method. They can be sorted by date of the change, by creation date or by name.
You might have thought that the sorting is configured in the Notes application itself, but in fact, the option needs to be changed in the Settings application. Below we will describe how this is done.

How to sort notes

  1. Open Settings and go to the Notes section.
  2. Scroll down to the "Preview" section and press "Sort".
  3. Choose one of three options:
  • By date of change - the default setting, at the top will be recently updated notes.
  • By creation date - recently created notes will be displayed at the top.
  • By title - the notes will be displayed in alphabetical order.
4. Exit the Settings.
It is possible that in future versions of iOS the sorting setting will be transferred to the Notes application itself, but for now, you need to go to Settings or use the search by notes.
